About me


Alto and Baritone saxophone – Charlotte Lang is a young, rising Swiss-Dutch alto and baritone saxophonist, multi-instrumentalist, composer and improviser, born in Basel. 
Charlotte is not only a sought-after musician, but also a captivating composer, bandleader and performer. With a deep passion for jazz and her versatility, she plays in bands of various genres, including hip-hop, rock'n'roll, soul and funk.

She completed her bachelor's degree in jazz and her master's degree in jazz pedagogy at the Hochschule für Musik Basel with Domenic Landolf, Dani Blanc and Günter Wehinger, among others.
In July 2023, she completed her Master in Performance at the renowned Berklee College of Music in Boston under the artistic direction of Danilo Pérez and studied with music greats such as John Patitucci, George Garzone, Godwin Louis and Frank Tiberi. Charlotte was part of Terri Lyne Carrington's “Institute of Jazz and Gender Justice” and was selected as one of five musicians as “Sisters in Jazz” in 2023.

Charlotte Lang is part of the Swiss Jazz Orchestra and was part of the renowned Bundesjazzorchester (BuJazzO) from 2020 - 2022.

Her love of music goes far beyond the saxophone - For Charlotte, jazz music is an open-minded and tolerant art form that gives her a sense of strength that reinforces her ambitions as a musician, artist and woman to contribute to a better world. Her unwavering dedication to the pursuit of this music is reflected in her compositions, in her playing and in her teaching. 

In 2020, she was one of the selected participants of Nicole Johänntgen's Swiss SOFIA (Support of Female Improvising Artists) project.

After completing her master's degree, she returned to Switzerland in August 2023 to continue her musical journey.

She is currently working on her debut album.
